A significant fire erupted on Sunday morning at around 10:30 am in a jute mill dedicated to the production of jute yarn, located in Shyamnagar Vasudevpur under the jurisdiction of Vasudebpur police station. The blaze, attributed to a sudden short circuit in the selection department, swiftly engulfed the stored jute and machine equipment, reducing them to ashes.
Mill owner Swarajit Das, a resident of Haringhata in Nadia, conveyed that initial attempts to control the fire were made using the onsite firefighting system. However, as the situation escalated, four fire tenders arrived at the scene, diligently working for three hours to bring the fire under control and prevent further devastation.
